Artist Statement

As an artist, I have always been fascinated by the potential for storytelling through purely visual means. With every prop I make, my goal is to ask, “What do I want to communicate about the characters and the world they inhabit and how can I communicate what can’t be said out loud?” In my artistic process, I am interested in exploring elements of both surrealism and realism to help tell stories. However, I refer to realism not in the context of our own world, but in the context of the world of the story and what would be realistic for that setting. I strive to collaborate with fellow artists who aim to go beyond just the words on the page and to develop the world around the story as well, to make it feel all the more real and relatable.
